Dear potential future National Treasurers,
After nearly 8 years of being the National Treasurer for Delta Xi Phi Multicultural Sorority, Inc., I am stepping down from the position. I have learned so much and made many good memories as part of being on the National Board, and I thank you from deep in my heart and soul for electing me to this role.
I remember how it was when I began this position and how much there was to learn. Being treasurer is one of the hardest roles on the National Board because of the paperwork, the deadlines, and the esoteric knowledge that is inherent to the position. I don't want to make the next Treasurer struggle to learn the ropes alone or even on the job, which can lead to confusion and resentment among all members and errors in our financial reporting.
To avoid these situations, I am launching the Treasurer in Training program. This is a role shadowing position where you, as the Treasurer in Training, will learn from me how the role works, where the important files are, how to interact with chapter treasurers, and who to contact if things go wrong. I plan to meet with up to three (3) Treasurers in Training monthly throughout the period of October 2025 to the time when DXP holds its elections in summer 2026. In these monthly sessions, we will go over details of the role itself, and I will answer your questions. My hope is that at least one of you will choose to run in an election for the National Treasurer role in summer 2026, and that you will be well-trained and confident in your new elected position.
To be eligible for this program, you must: 1) be an alumna in good standing with DXP; 2) be prepared to devote at least 1 hr/month to training; 3) be committed to learning how to run the financial aspects of DXP; and 4) have a . Previous experience as a chapter treasurer is preferred, but not required. Due to the time demands of this role and to avoid conflicts of interest, currently active members of DXP are not eligible for the Treasurer in Training program.
This application will be open until September 28th, 2025.
Thank you, everyone!
